Do It Fucking Scared

You don't have to wait for the fear to leave. You just have to know the next step.

There's something you keep coming back to. Maybe you've been thinking about it for years. You've planned it in your head, maybe even started it once or twice... and then that voice shows up.

Who do you think you are? You don't know how to do this. What if people judge you?

So you set it back down. Not because you don't want it. Because you don't know the first step, and not knowing feels like proof you shouldn't even try.

I want you to hear this: scared and ready can happen at the same time. You don't have to wait for the fear to leave. It might never leave.

I know because I'm feeling it right now. My book is live. My website is live. And I keep looking at it like, who the fuck am I?

This is my life on those pages. The thoughts I usually keep to myself. I could have talked myself out of publishing it a hundred times, and part of me is still trying.

I didn't know how to publish a book when I started. Shit, I didn't know the first thing about writing one. I learned one piece, got overwhelmed, took a breath, and figured out the next piece. That's it. That's the whole secret.

I'm still scared. I'm also so damn excited, and I'm proud I let it exist outside my own head.

You don't have to know every step today. You just have to know the next one.

Always, be real.
